BOOK BUDDIES

Don’t have a dog? Or have a dog that is a little too excited to sit in a classroom? Become a Book Buddy! You’ll work with a small group of students in the classroom. During each one-hour visit, you’ll help with reading and writing activities. Prospective Book Buddies must attend an orientation and pass a background check. A 15 minute check in and debrief make each session a 90 minute commitment.

Committing to a classroom for a full 6 or 8 week program is ideal for everyone involved. However, we understand how busy our volunteers are and can accommodate commitments of a minimum of 2 or 3 sessions in a single program.

Our new mobile app for volunteers allows each volunteer to maintain their own profile, preferences, availability, and certifications, as well as to track the hours they have volunteered and to communicate with fellow volunteers and staff in real time.

In 2024-25 car pools will begin operating to assist with getting volunteers to our schools that are challenging to reach by public transportation.
