FUNDING PARTNERS

SitStayRead is proud to partner with non-profit organizations, businesses, and foundations, as institutional funders, for special initiatives such as back to school book drives, and as volunteer program facilitators. If your institution is interested in supporting our work with a cash sponsorship, volunteers, or in-kind donations, please contact info@sitstayread.org.

Corporate, foundation, and government funders below are for the period of 7/1/2023 - 9/30/2024

The Donley Foundation - 125k+

The Xoloitzcuintle ‘Xolo’ award, inspired by the qualities of the ancient Mayan and Aztec breed and its modern descendants, honors a person or entity that has had significant impact on SitStayRead and its work by creating a strong bond of trust and partnership.

Inez Cantrell Donley and Edward Donley both grew up on poor farms, but made a wonderful life for themselves by getting a good education and working hard. In 1987, they created The Donley Foundation as their way of giving back to the young people striving to get an education, job skills, and life skills.

The Donley Foundation was consistent in its support of SitStayRead throughout its life cycle with a particularly generous parting gift this year as the foundation sunsetted.

SitStayRead will forever be grateful not only for The Donley Foundation’s fiscal support, but for the agency it encouraged in our organization to use this funding as most needed, by making its grants unrestricted.

FDC Foundation - $25k

The FDC Foundation is a non-profit foundation founded in 2008 by members of the Cluck family to support charitable organizations within the United States in three principle areas: Health, Education, and Housing.

Education: Specifically, the FDC Foundation contributes to organizations that support (1) early childhood development programs, including but not limited to educational institutions currently doing outstanding work in the field; (2) programs for returning scholars, supporting organizations that provide financial support (such as reimbursement of tuition, fees, cost of books and additional living expenses) incurred by persons who return to school to continue their education later in life (beyond the age when that level of education is customarily completed); and (3) literary achievement, specifically organizations (such as colleges and universities) offering financial support or programs to gifted individuals pursuing the creation of meritorious literary works (poetry, fiction, drama, non-fiction prose, or translation) over a specific time period (such as one year).

Cook County Justice Advisory Council - $20k

Cook County Justice Advisory Council’s vision is for Cook County to be a leader in reimagining and restructuring systems of justice to improve conditions and outcomes for individuals involved in the justice system and communities most impacted by it. Mass incarceration destabilizes families and communities. Proactive and strategic investments in violence prevention, recidivism reduction and restorative justice support those at risk of involvement with the criminal justice system and bring about a more equitable system of justice and safer communities for all.

  • Sparkjoy Foundation

    Sparkjoy Foundation

This is the Sparkjoy Foundation’s first boots on the ground operation. Cheryl Herrick came to us with this idea in 2018: as an autocross racer she wanted to volunteer her time to take veterans and their families for ride-alongs. Her belief is that the adrenaline rush of riding along is therapeutic for victims of PTSD. For many of them, this is a reason to get out of the house and socialize with others, and these events make a real difference in their lives.
